Searching for – The Missing Burro
In a quiet Soi near the beginning of Thonglor soi, two Mexican brothers Itzco and Tlahui Calva have conspired to bring their version of Yucatan Mexican cuisine to the masses of Thonglor, The Missing Burro. It’s all presented using recycled shipping containers as both their kitchen and indoor dining. Overall it presents a low key vibe, mainly because of a variation of the theme of casual backyard dining. You feel more like you stepped onto your neighbours place for a quick chat or a casual beer, rather then a restaurant.
The menu offers a tidy but authentically curated selection of Mexican delicacies, some familiar and some new. The Missing Burro offers a good opportunity to explore a new part of the Mexican cuisine.
Mexican food embodies fun, fiestas and most importantly, great and vibrant tasting Mexican food. The Missing Burro knows how to provide these vital elements. The owners are charming and friendly and ready to help with an introduction to Yucatan cuisine if need be. Tables can fill quickly, so a booking is recommended, or if you want, come early. Don’t miss the opportunity to sample their many margaritas. Or if you feeling bold, try some of their Mexican cocktails, or keep it simple with their range of beers.
You can relax as Mexican music drifts over you, order some Sangrias, and let the moments slip away. You will barely notice that you are in this back Soi, metres from the chaos of Thonglor.
