Bar Review – Finding your second wind at ‘Hair of the Dog’
Hair of the Dog offers some great American brews plus more. It’s a go-to for locals and regulars. Offering a moody interior that is both thematic and a little bit dark, it offers a good range of beer and food.
The Beginnings of the Brew
It all started with Canadian beer lovers deciding that they had a little something to put into the Bangkok Craft beer scene. Wanting to satisfy both the beer curious and also be a guiding light for those who knew their beer, or were looking for further stimulation.
Hair of the Dog have also managed to create quite a unique atmosphere. What started as an experiment in design ended up as a mash up between medical asylum, prison ward and taproom in a unique way that encourages socializing.
The Beer
As they say themselves “13 rotating taps and hundreds of bottles from the world’s best craft beer brewers”.
They also have seven standup coolers, with around 200 bottled and canned beers. So if you are looking for choice, you’re certain to be kept entertained as you drink your way though the globe.
Somewhat new to Thailand is the brown plastic “growler” bottles, lined up on a shelf just behind the taps. These exist as an opportunity for “take-home”. They each contain around three normal Hair of the Dog glasses, but brilliantly, you pay for just two glasses.
