This week we tried out New York Style Steak & Burger. They do steaks and burgers, but we are focusing on the burgers for this review. This is not your average burger joint. This is more of an upscale burger place and you can tell in the taste. They pride themselves in using only the best premium meat for their burgers, ground fresh daily. Each burger is patty is 220 grams of beef, seasoned with seasoned with sea salt and ground pepper. It’s a pretty sizeable patty. I think it was about an inch thick. They have been recognized as best burger in Bangkok back in 2015 by the Big Chilli magazine.
New York Style Steak & Burger is over on Soi 22 about halfway down the street on the second floor, above the Wine Depot. It’s a nice little restaurant with bricked walls filled with photos from old New York and comfortable couches. It has a nice cozy relaxing atmosphere. The staff and management were friendly and welcoming.
New York Style Steak & Burger has a menu with a whole string of burgers: The Atomic with jalapenos, The Big Blue (cheese), The Firehouse Chilli, The Californian, The Damn Yankee, just to name a few. They have a vegetarian burger, as well, for those who don’t eat meat. We came for the big dogs though; The Manhattan Monster, The Burger Queen, and The Brooklyn BBQ Burger.
The Starters
We did try their Chilli cheese fries to start off, and I can tell you right away, their chilli (American Chilli) is excellent. New York Style Steak & Burger make their fries just right. They are the crinkle fries, perfect size and cooked just right. I would recommend trying these out to get you started.
The Manhattan Monster
This is the biggest burger I have ever seen in my life!! It looks like a novelty or something, but don’t be fooled by its size and appearance. This bad boy is freakin awesome! It stands about 8-10 inches high and is quite the sight. What doesn’t it have on it might be better way to describe it because this thing has everything on it but the kitchen sink!
Here is the rundown. It has grilled bacon, cheddar cheese, fried egg, firehouse chilli, fried onion stack, lettuce, homemade pickles, tomato, and their signature Russian dressing. You would think that there is no way you could ever get this thing in your mouth, but YOU CAN!!! Have them cut it in half for you, then squash that baby down and go for it! It sounds crazy, but believe me, it all works. This is a great burger! Don’t be scared, get on it!
The Burger Queen
Next up, The Burger Queen. This is another of their signature burgers that they pride themselves on. They took part in a contest presented by the U.S. Department of Agriculture some years back. Each group was given a box of ingredients and they were instructed to use all of them in their burger creation. New York Style Steak & Burger took the potatoes and mashed them up and made them into the buns for the burger. It has cheddar and mozzarella cheese, avocado, maple bacon, chipotle sauce and their Russian sauce. They were given green apples and red cabbage which they shredded up and made into a coleslaw to complement the burger, and THEY WON!!!! It’s a pretty cool story and it’s a pretty good burger. Try something different. It was surprisingly good and quite the sight standing as tall as the monster.
The Brooklyn BBQ
Brooklyn BBQ is the biggest seller for New York Style Steak & Burger . It is a tasty burger with crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, homemade pickles, onion, tomato, and smoky Jack Daniels BBQ sauce. You could really taste the quality of meat with this one. They do use high quality meat in their burgers and it delivers. The BBQ sauce mixes well with the meat. It really has great beef burger flavor and taste that will leave you wanting more, for sure.
Overall, I have to say that New York Style Steak & Burger is legit. This place serves up great burgers. I would put it up there with the best. It’s a go for me. I would highly recommend giving this place run. It is very good. I think you will be happy with this place.
